Does your ready-made décor not fit your brand? How to combine a festive atmosphere with your company’s brand identity

Companies’ holiday preparations often start with a Christmas tree, string lights and off-the-shelf decorations. These elements create a festive mood, but they rarely say anything about the brand itself. Custom Christmas signage makes it possible to combine the atmosphere of the season with your logo, typography, colour palette or a distinctive brand icon. As a result, the décor fits the space and doesn’t look like a random set bought for a single season.

A bespoke project doesn’t have to mean elaborate set design. It can be a single illuminated message for a restaurant, a neon sign for reception, a logo with a festive twist, or a larger installation prepared for a hotel, a store, an event or an entire chain of locations.

Problem: off-the-shelf decorations don’t reflect the brand’s character

Standard decorations are designed to fit many different spaces. That makes them easy to buy quickly, but it limits your ability to match the décor to the interior and the company’s brand identity. The same star, Christmas tree or illuminated figure can show up in a restaurant, hotel, office and shopping centre.

The issue isn’t that ready-made decorations always look bad. Often they simply have no connection to the place where they’re displayed. The light colour may clash with the interior, the scale may be off, and the form may compete with the logo instead of supporting its visibility.

When you order from a catalogue, it’s also difficult to account for the exact use case. A hotel lobby needs a different element than a restaurant entrance, and something else again is needed for a stage at a corporate event. A festive look on its own isn’t enough if the decoration is meant to be part of the brand’s communication.

Solution: a holiday element designed for a specific space

The design can start with your logo, brand guidelines, typeface or a distinctive brand symbol. On that basis, you can create a greeting message, an illuminated logo, a neon sign, a 3D decoration or a larger composition. The Christmas motif is then translated into the visual language the brand uses all year round.

The installation site is just as important. Before preparing the design, you need to check dimensions, sightlines, power access, and the possibilities for placement or mounting. An element intended for reception can be viewed from up close, while an entrance or stage decoration must remain legible from a greater distance.

Holiday signage can be subtle or clearly dominate the space. Sometimes a small message placed on the counter or at reception is enough. In a larger interior, an illuminated logo, a 3D symbol or an installation where guests can take photos will work better.

Retail display

Problem: bespoke projects seem like an option only for large companies

The owner of a café, restaurant or single store may assume that a custom project has to involve a large installation. In reality, an order can be for a single neon sign, a message or one illuminated element. Company size doesn’t determine whether the décor can be aligned with its brand identity.

At the other end of the scale are brands with many stores, hotels or service locations. In their case, one design needs to be replicated across multiple sites. That brings the need to define a shared template, available variants and the number of units.

The scope should come from the actual need. A single venue can order one element, while a chain can apply the same concept across dozens or hundreds of locations. So bespoke production doesn’t imply any particular order scale.

Solution: from a single message to a chain-wide rollout

A single element can be precisely tailored to a specific interior, counter, wall or entrance zone. The design then takes into account one place and one way of use. This is a solution for companies that want to add a festive accent without redesigning the entire space.

With a larger number of locations, a different organisational approach is needed. In the industry, the process of repeatedly implementing signage across many sites is referred to as a signage rollout. In Polish, it can be described as deploying a company’s signage across multiple locations.

In one of our previous projects, we produced several hundred “Merry Christmas” neon signs for a nationwide fashion brand, along with other elements of holiday signage. The pieces were delivered to stores across the country, making the shared motif part of a larger campaign. The brand name remains confidential, but the scale of the project shows that a bespoke concept can be translated both into a single element and a large series.

However, a large rollout is not a requirement to start working together. The same design process can be applied to a single message for a restaurant, a logo for a hotel lobby, or décor prepared for a corporate event.

Custom Christmas signage

At PRETENDE you can order a single message, neon sign, illuminated logo, 3D symbol or a larger Christmas installation. The project can be prepared for a store, hotel, restaurant, office, reception, showroom, shopping mall, entrance zone or an event. The scope depends on the site, the brand identity and the planned use.

To prepare a proposal, we need: your logo or brand guidelines, photos of the site, approximate dimensions, information on indoor or outdoor use, and the required deadline. You should also specify power access, the method of placement or mounting, and the number of units needed. If the element is intended to return next season, it’s worth factoring that in before choosing the construction.

For an order covering multiple locations, we need a list of sites and information about differences between them. For a single element, materials related to the specific site are enough. This allows the project to start from a real need, not from a predetermined scale.

Custom Christmas signage can be one small message or an entire series prepared for multiple locations. The key is that it reflects the brand’s character and fits the place where it will be used.
